Celadon City
Celadon City sits between Route 7 to the east and Route 16 to the west, and it’s one of the largest and busiest cities in Kanto. The Celadon Department Store in the northwest corner is the biggest shop in the region, stocking a wide range of items across multiple floors. Nearby is Celadon Mansion, a hotel currently occupied by a group called Game Freak β worth a visit if you’re curious. In the heart of the city you’ll find the Game Corner, where you can try your luck and win coins, and the Prize Corner right next door where those coins can be exchanged for rewards. The Celadon Gym sits up on a hill in the southwest part of town whenever you’re ready to take on the local Gym Leader.

Celadon Mansion
The tall building in the northern part of the city is Celadon Mansion, and it’s worth exploring every floor before moving on.
Before you leave, find the elderly woman on the ground floor β she’s surrounded by PokΓ©mon and easy to spot. Talk to her and she’ll give you a cup of Tea. Hand it to any one of the guards blocking the entrances to Saffron City and they’ll finally step aside and let you through.
3F Head up to the third floor and track down Game Freak’s game designer. He’s made a promise to anyone who manages to complete the PokΓ©dex β show him a finished one and he’ll have a reward waiting for you.
Free Eevee in Celadon City

Make sure you have an empty slot in your party before heading here. Follow the path behind the PokΓ©mon Center until you spot a gap in the trees, then slip through and enter Celadon Mansion via the back door. Head up to the top floor and you’ll find a free Eevee waiting to be picked up.
Eevee is one of the most unique PokΓ©mon in the game thanks to its ability to evolve into several completely different forms depending on what you expose it to. Three of those evolutions are available right now using Evolution Stones, all of which can be purchased from the Celadon Department Store nearby:
- Water Stone β Vaporeon β A bulky Water type with excellent Special stats
- Thunder Stone β Jolteon β A lightning fast Electric type with great Special Attack
- Fire Stone β Flareon β A hard hitting Fire type with a high Attack stat
Any of the three make a solid addition to your team and can help cover weaknesses left by your starter PokΓ©mon, so choose whichever type fits best.
Celadon Department Store
The Celadon Department Store is the largest shop in Kanto and stocks just about everything you could need. Here’s a floor by floor breakdown of what’s available:
1F β Reception The ground floor has the main reception desk and an elevator at the back that gives you quick access to any floor.
2F β General Items & TMs The second floor covers all the everyday essentials you’d expect β PokΓ© Balls, healing items, and a selection of TMs to browse through.
3F β Traders & Move Tutor This floor has a handful of trainers looking to swap PokΓ©mon. The man behind the counter is a Move Tutor who will teach one of your PokΓ©mon Counter β a move that reflects physical damage back at the opponent.
4F β Evolution Stones The fourth floor is dedicated entirely to Evolution Stones of all varieties. If you’re planning to evolve your Eevee or any other PokΓ©mon that requires a stone, this is the place to do it.
5F β Stat Boosters This is the most valuable floor in the building and one you’ll find yourself returning to regularly. It’s the most reliable place in the game to purchase permanent stat boosting items like Protein and Calcium, which raise your PokΓ©mon’s stats for good. It also stocks temporary battle items like X Attack that can give you an edge in tough fights.
Rooftop β Vending Machines Head up to the rooftop and you’ll find three vending machines and a small group of people including a young girl. Buy a Fresh Water, a Soda Pop, and a Lemonade from the machines and hand them to the girl one at a time β she’ll reward you with TM16 Light Screen, TM20 Safeguard, and TM33 Reflect in return.
While you’re up here, consider stocking up on extra drinks for the road. They’re significantly cheaper than Super Potions and restore more HP, making them a much better value for keeping your team topped up during your travels.
Coin Case

Head to the restaurant on the southern side of Celadon City and look for the man sitting toward the back. He’s had a rough run at the slot machines and has burned through all of his money, leaving him with no reason to hold onto his Coin Case any longer β so he’ll hand it over to you for free. You’ll need it to store coins from the Game Corner next door.
Celadon City Gym: Leader Erika
The Celadon Gym is stacked with Grass-type PokΓ©mon, so knowing your type advantages before stepping inside will go a long way. Grass types are vulnerable to Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison, and Bug moves, so any of those will serve you well here. Most of the PokΓ©mon in the gym also carry a secondary Poison typing, which means Psychic moves hit them for super effective damage too. Leave your Water, Rock, and Ground types on the bench for this one β they’ll struggle against Grass moves.
